One of our client seeks a medical professional with expertise in maternal and child health and nutrition (MCHN) and nurse mentoring program as Technical Lead The person will work in close collaboration with the program team to provide technical MNCHN guidance across interventions and workstreams. The person will combine his/her technical expertise with dynamic leadership skills to guide and mentor the team and strengthen organization interventions.
Role Summary: The Technical Lead will apply his/her medical expertise to: (i) ensure the team’s technical competence on MNCHN themes (ii) periodically review and refine existing interventions from a medical lens, and (ii) provide inputs on the design of new interventions, including theory of change to achieve end-outcomes and; (iv) Facilitate and support engagement with Government and collaborate with health systems stakeholders in partner state/districts to facilitate successful execution of the areas of work outlined in the TOR.
The person will ensure that organization’s programs are aligned with the latest best practices in public health and recommend course corrections and innovations to further organization’s mission towards avoiding preventable maternal and child deaths, and malnutrition at scale.
KEY TASKS
Guide organization’s program team in the development of technical interventions, program components and implementation plans, and ensure they are technically sound and in line with current best practices.
Lend medical expertise towards the development and implementation of technical tools (e.g., knowledge assessment tools for frontline workers, capacity building modules for health staff)
Coach organization’s technical team (e.g., nurse mentors) to ensure updated MCHN knowledge and skills; guide technical field activities, ensuring mentoring by organization team is of the highest quality.
Build understanding on medical aspects within MCHN, in organization’s internal teams across
workstreams (e.g., identifying impact indicators for program monitoring, using medical
information across communications); be the point person for all MCHN queries within the team.
Keep abreast of latest medical developments in the public health space (e.g., guidelines, international best practices, innovations) and share relevant updates with the organization team.
Understands and support government programs and schemes on Quality Assurance and Quality improvement like Laqshya, Kayakalp, Dakshta etc.
Act as an expert liaison for engagement with key stakeholders, particularly state and district government officials, especially in ensuring organization’s technical MCHN recommendations are communicated appropriately.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Essential: MBBS and/or MD registered with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council. Additional degrees such as MPH will be preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in MCHN, with in-depth understanding of maternal health/child health/ nutrition.
Preferably holding substantial experience leading a technical mentoring/training program.
Close familiarity with India’s public health programs and policies.
Experience giving public presentations and contributing to well-written technical articles and publications.
Willingness to travel extensively across rural field locations.
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity and team spirit.
Ability to coach and mentor team members.
Have interpersonal and influencing skills.
Strong values of humility and integrity.
OTHER DETAILS
Location: To be based in the Bhopal with at least 2 to 3 weeks of monthly field visits to intervention areas.
