Primary Purpose of Job
The organization requires in-house legal personnel to provide suitable legal advice as well as effectively handle all issues with legal implication keeping in mind the core business and needs of the organization.
The primary purpose is to reduce legal risks faced by the organization arising out of the country strategy, prevent litigation, provide sound advice for the smooth functioning of the organization and improve the legal agility of the organization thus promoting value based governance and highest standards of organizational excellence within the organization and a sound reputation outside.
The work context includes the entire gamut of legal requirements of the organization ranging from Statutory Legal compliance, Contracts, Service Rules, Policies and Employee Relations relating to Discipline, Fraud, Investigation, Domestic Enquiry, Industrial Disputes as well as handling of Litigation & Arbitration issues of the organization.
Key Deliverables:
To interpret, draft or review various contracts, MOUs, agreements, policies etc. and provide professional legal advice/expertise to the various teams in the organization on all legal matters including during negotiations, keeping in mind the core business, strategy and needs of the organization.
To review, investigate, analyse (including cost-benefit ratio) all matters of fraud, discipline, legal risk & liability to the organization and recommend to the Leadership Team/ Senior Management Team all possible and practical solutions and courses of action for making effective decisions as well as provide expertise on legal aspects as member of the Enterprise Risk Management Team
To advise the Leadership Team on matters of litigation and arbitration as well as monitor existing court cases and liaise with advocates.
To closely monitor the sector-related legal developments in the country that impacts the organization and facilitate in establishing suitable mechanisms to prevent legal risk including capacity building of staff.
To be updated and keep the People & Culture team update from time to time on the laws, amendments, policies pertaining to staff, Organisation and industry as a whole.
