JOB   SUMMARY

The incumbent works as part of a medical team which is fully staffed and well equippe and which provides an entire range of high quality family planning services at public sector sites – Community Health centres (CHCs) or Primary Health Centres (PHCs). Sound technical knowledge, updated practical clinical skills, prior experience in provision of abortion/family planning services, a professional, friendly attitude and effective communication skills are keys to becoming successful in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ThNurse will be a member of the clinical outreach team responsible for supporting the Surgeon in the provision of abortion services, ensuring overall quality of clinical services and clinical governance including record maintenance and audits.

Clinical Procedures

• Ensure safety, privacy and dignity of clients.
• Ensure readiness of Operation Theatre– cleanliness, segregation of sterile and unsterile areas; ensure ready availability of sterile instruments other supplies, appropriate positioning of OT table, availability of waste containers, OT attire etc.
• Assist surgeons in conducting screening, pre-procedure assessment, per vaginal examination, administering pre-medication, carrying out clinical procedures, providing post-operative monitoring, and providing post-operative instructions to clients.
• Ensure availability of all equipment (in working order), sterile supplies, disinfectants and other materials required for conducting outreach services.
• Participate in all Fixed Day Service camps associated with this project, barring leaves as per organization rules and protocols.
• Manage Infection Prevention in accordance with MSI protocols.
• Ensure safe handling of instruments & equipment’s.
• Monitor quality in camps.
• Ensure Post- operative 24 Hours follow up is being conducted and monitored.
• Ensures referral system in place, emergency management in case of complications and support in management and follow up of all incidents.
• Conduct 24 Hour Follow up and after 3 months follow up for semen analysis of NSV clients.
• Counselling of the clients – Pre and post-operative, if required.
• Conducting lab tests as and when required.

Supervise Office Assistant

• Autoclaving of sterile supplies.
• Stock management.
• Post-operative follow up system- ensure 24 hour follow up of all clients.

Documentation

• Maintain and update documents- client records, client register, Fixed Day Service consumption register and other relevant registers.

      Others

• Participate actively in the planning and management of MSI activities in the district
• Support in Training, QTA and other requirements.
• Support other team members in effective management of Service Delivery Fixed Day Services and Complications.
• Participate in meetings/training including travel to other locations.

 Note: Any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor as per the program requirement.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• GNM /B.sc Nursing with 2-3 Years of experience in development sector.
• 1-2 Years of experience in Family Planning Services.
